All the glasswork on this site is pâte de verre. The term is French for paste of glass, which refers to
the fact that powdered or ground glass is used as the raw material.
Every piece I make is one-of-a-kind. Each starts as a wax sculpture that I cast into plaster. After steaming out the
wax, I put the plaster mold in my kiln and continue filling it with ground glass. The mold spends about a week in the
kiln. When it is cool, I carefully scrape the plaster away. All that remains is a softly glowing glass form and a pile
of dust.
