"Fronds" was the first piece that came from my new kiln. The challenge was to combine very thin and thicker elements and to create forms that would create different cleaning problems. The result was far better than I could have hoped. I combined deep spiraled cone shapes like canna lily flowers with twisted spikes and graded the colors from purpleish pink to blue but kept the base green. Looking at this abstract floral piece makes me very happy. It turned out more beautiful than I could have hoped and meets my stringent criterion for true art. It fills its space with authority as though it had always existed and will always exist. 7.5 x 8 x 9 in., signed.
